Istanbul 2nd High Criminal Court rejected the release request of journalist Füsun Erdoğan, writer Arif Çelebi and 6 other socialists whose trial process have not been completed in Turkey’s Supreme Court of Appeals in its 8 year.
The presiding judge made a verbal statement to the defense attorneys, saying that they rejected the request as “the detail verdict” is being written. However, defense attorney Gülhan Kaya told bianet that the penal judges have not cited this statement into the detailed verdict.
“The court ordered the continuation of defendants’ arrest as they have been convicted by a local court but awaiting a final verdict from the Supreme Court of Appeals.
The defense attorneys said they would submit a motion to Istanbul 3rd High Criminal Court. (EA/BM)
